Peripheral spatial contrast sensitivity of the eyes

چکیده

AIM: To develop a method for evaluating peripheral spatial contrast sensitivity and to use it in comparative studies of children with myopia under correction conditions glasses highly aspherical lenslet (HAL) single vision lenses (SVL).
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A was developed, which visual control carried out the patients gaze fixed forward direction using remote binocular autorefractometer, test image sent selected area retina periphery. The SVL values were evaluated three ranges frequencies, namely, low (0.52.0 cycle/deg), medium (4.0 8.0 high (11.3116.0 cycle/deg). Peripheral examined descriptively 20 moderate myopia. age ranged from 8 13 (average, 11.41.5) years, degree 1.0 3.75 2.661.5 D). HAL trial frame correction.
RESULTS. In HAL, induces volumetric myopic defocus on periphery retina, lower than that SVL. This decrease most pronounced at where reached 3050%. revealed differences frequencies (8; 11.31 16 cycles/deg) statistically significant: 7.5 10.8 frequency cycles/deg, 5.8 9.05 4.4 9.2 respectively.
CONCLUSION: rings compared SVL, is significantly reduced frequencies.

Characterization of spatial aliasing and contrast sensitivity in peripheral vision

Psychometric performance was measured for contrast detection and spatial resolution tasks in foveal and peripheral vision. Objective evidence was obtained for a quantitative difference between resolution acuity and detection acuity in the peripheral field. These two types of spatial acuity differed by up to an order of magnitude (3 vs 30 c/deg at 30 deg eccentricity) and they varied with stimul...

Contrast sensitivity of the human peripheral retina.

Threshold contrasts were measured psychophysically for a sinusoidal grating targetcentered 12’in the peripheral retina. The relationship between contrast sensitivity, the reciprocal ofthe threshold contrast, and the spatial frequency of the gratings can be adequately described by thedifference of two Gaussian functions. The parameters of the fitted Gaussians are used to describe...

Spatial contrast sensitivity of the tree shrew.

Spatial contrast sensitivity functions (CSFs) were measured for 3 tree shrews. Our two-alternative forced-choice discrimination paradigm required the animals to discriminate a vertical sine-wave luminance grating from a homogeneous field of the same size (16 degrees) and mean luminance (35 cd/m2). Spatial frequencies tested ranged from 0.1 to 2.0 c/deg and grating contrast was varied trial-by-t...

Running Head: SPATIAL CONTRAST SENSITIVITY IN AUTISM Spatial Contrast Sensitivity in Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and typically developing (TD) controls underwent a rigorous psychophysical assessment that measured contrast sensitivity to seven spatial frequencies (0.5 to 20 cycles/degree). A contrast sensitivity function (CSF) was then fitted for each participant, from which four measures were obtained: visual acuity, peak spatial frequency, peak contrast se...

Effect of chromatic aberration on contrast sensitivity in pseudophakic eyes.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of chromatic aberrations in pseudophakic eyes with various types of intraocular lenses (IOLs). PATIENTS AND METHODS The study included 51 eyes of 33 patients who underwent cataract surgery. The eyes were divided into 3 groups according to the material from which their IOL was made: group 1, polymethyl methacrylate; group 2, silicone; and group 3, an acrylate/m...
